Amai’kiye: Chef’s Table — A Birthday Feast for Lady Emma Thynn

I had the utter privilege and deep pleasure of catering my dear friend Lady Emma Thynn’s birthday celebration — a night that shimmered with elegance, warmth, and the unmistakable aroma of home.

Held in a space filled with laughter, joy, and many familiar faces I’ve had the honour of working with over the years, it was more than just a party — it was a celebration of life, culture, and connection. Being part of this heartfelt gathering felt like coming full circle in many ways.

The menu? A true symphony of flavour. We led with jollof arancini — golden, crisp, and bursting with smoky, tomato-rich rice at the centre. Then came Côte de Bœuf, grilled to perfection and elevated by a scotch bonnet chimichurri that danced between fire and finesse. Caviar mac ’n’ cheese made a luxurious entrance — creamy, decadent, and crowned with delicate pearls that offered the perfect salty finish. And of course, the scent of Suya sizzling on the grill wrapped around the room like a familiar embrace — earthy, spicy, and deeply nostalgic.

This was Amai’kiye in its truest form: food that remembers, honours, and connects.

Thank you, Emma, for inviting me into such a personal and joyous occasion. Here’s to many more tables shared, memories made, and plates that tell our stories.
